Located on the north-east coast of Crete, the major site of Sissi, close to the famous palace of Malia, offers rare and precious evidence for a period of history and a civilisation that is still poorly understood, that of the brilliant Minoan culture of the 3rd and 2nd millennia BC.

You will enable an aDNA or stable isotope analysis of human bones over 3500 years old and thus help to trace the genealogy of our European ancestors.
You will ensure the long-term conservation of a thousand-year-old wall threatened by accelerated erosion, and in so doing you will become a key player in the conversion of the site into an archaeological park open to visitors.
You will enable a student to enrich their academic training with six weeks of field work, while contributing to the progress of research into Minoan archaeology.
You will provide bilingual explanatory panels (in English and Greek) on the site, giving the public a better understanding of the Minoan ruins and encouraging them to take care of them.
